Great Looking Carpet Tiles Make Over Any Room Easily

Are you tired of looking at the dingy carpet in your front hallway but don’t have a lot of cash to spend replacing it? Carpet tiles will brighten up your front hall quickly and inexpensively, bringing bold splashes of color to your room without breaking the bank.

Carpet tiles are exactly what they sound like, tiles made from carpet instead of wood, ceramic or what have you. The two most popular types of carpeting available in tiles are loop pile and cut pile. Both types have loops pulled through the carpet backing with the cut pile featuring the tops cut off the loop that is formed, leaving the bits of yarn standing straight up. From a wear standpoint, you will find that pile carpeting is usually more durable than its loopy cousin.

One factor that you will want to take into consideration before starting your project obviously is going to be cost. Wool carpet tiles are the most luxurious type you can be, but unfortunately they are also the most expensive. Acrylic carpeting is very similar to wool and is quite resistant to moisture, fading and staining it is not recommended for high volume areas. In such high traffic areas you’ll want to look at installing nylon carpet tiles since it wears well and even though it is one of the more expensive of the synthetic fibres, it is cheaper than wool.

Another thing to think about is the type of overall look you want to create in your front hall. Stick with light colors to create the impression of spaciousness and room, something that may well be lacking if your house dates back to the early war years. Since you can create patterns with carpet tiles, consider mixing your light colors with darker ones that won’t show muddy shoe or paw print stains as easily.
